Simbu is a small province in the middle of PNG. Mt Wilhelm is the highest peak in PNG at nearly 4,509 metres above sea level. Almost half the province is montainous, with narrow valleys and fast flowing streams.
A denserly populated province with a population of 259,703. With steep hills, villages and tough and expert gardeners who can produce food crops for survival. Village can drain and enrich soil for gardening at high altitude.
Pig killing for feast, food exchange, marriage and compensation ceremonies are part of traditional life style.
Simbu Province comprises 6 districts and 19 local governments.
