Ariel View of VanimoVanimo Town is the capital of West Sepik Province (Sandaun) located near the PNG international border with the Republic of Indonesia.

The province is made up of 4 districts with a total population of 185,790.Sandaun extends from the highlands of Telefomin district, the nothern side of the Papua New Guinea border with Indonesia with virgin rain forest covering the flood plains from the green river through ruggered mountains and lowlands to the coastline of Aitape Lumi district adjoining East Sepik Province.

Transport service by road from Vanimo Town to all districts is a big challenge for the province politician and administration who depend on third level air transport system. Transportation cost of delivering basic government service to outlying rural villages consumes a huge portion of the province annual budget.

Sunset viewSandaun is pidgin word for sunset and so a soft relaxing feeling for visitors travelling to the province. An ideal tourist attraction with hospitality aminities such as the Sandaun Motel, Vanimo Beach Resort, Vamone Lodge and others. Along the coastline from Vanimo to Wutung are holiday sports for wave surfing, diving and general site seeing. A unique Province.

Visitors travelling to the town of Jaya Pura in the Indonesian province of Irian Jaya have to check through the Indonesian consulate in Vanimo Town, and go through the check point at Wutung border post. Travellers must produce their passport and valid vissas before crossing the international border.
