Alotau Town is the Provincial Capital where Milne Bay Provincial Government and the Administration Offices are located.The Provincial Assembly consists of 16 local government presidents, the 4 members of national parliament representing the 4 districts and the Provincial Governor elected by the people.
The Province renewable marine resources includes fish,sea cucumber, prawns,shells and rich pearl. Subsistence gardening for daily consumption is a major activity but lately people are investing time in the production of cash crops as palm oil, copra, cocoa and vanilla.Milne Bay with its geographical location (location location) and by nature is absoluterly tourist heaven.
