Samarai Island Milne Bay Province is popular for its beautifull tropical islands, swaying coconut palms and smilling happy citizens.Milne Bay geographically is the eastern tip of the PNG mainland and extends to the main islands of Samarai, Esa'ala, Trobriand Island, Goodenough and other exoctic small attols stratching to the rich golden island of Misima.

One of the maritime province Milne Bay is made up of 4 districts with a total population of 210,412.

Alotau Town is the Provincial Capital where Milne Bay Provincial Government and the Administration Offices are located.The Provincial Assembly consists of 16 local government presidents, the 4 members of national parliament representing the 4 districts and the Provincial Governor elected by the people.


trobrian island dancersThe Province renewable marine resources includes fish,sea cucumber, prawns,shells and rich pearl. Subsistence gardening for daily consumption is a major activity but lately people are investing time in the production of cash crops as palm oil, copra, cocoa and vanilla.
